High School Youth Ministry

Unfortunately, our high school youth ministry is on hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please stay tuned for updates as plans are in the works to bring this awesome program back and help it grow stronger than ever!

Our youth ministry has participated in are the Chicago March Life, Steubenville Youth Conferences, poinsettia delivery to senior citizen parishioners, and volunteering at the Midwest Food Bank. As our youth ministry gets going again and more events re-start post-COVID, we will be planning many different opportunities for our high schoolers to live out their faith (and have fun doing it)!

While we aren’t currently running the following programs due to COVID restrictions, we do plan to start them up again in the fall of 2021:

High schoolers looking for volunteer opportunities within St. Patrick Church of Mernacan earn service hours by helping in the nursery during weekend Masses. Contact Pam Goode at nursery@stpatrickmerna.org. You can also earn hours helping to lead Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 9 am and 11 am Sunday Masses. Contact Jenny Cook at jenny@stpatrickmerna.org. We also encourage our high schoolers to serve as Masters of Ceremonies or MCs, which is an opportunity to be a lead altar server who guides the younger servers (contact Jana Schopp at jana@stpatrickmerna.org).

{Maybe a form here instead of all the contact information being in the above paragraph?}

Our parishes are also affiliated with Central Catholic High School, and we encourage all parishioners to visit the school and do a shadow day! As a Christ-centered community rooted in the Catholic faith, Central Catholic promotes lifelong learning through spiritual, personal, and academic excellence in a safe environment while fostering respect, responsibility, and integrity. If tuition is an obstacle for your family, please contact the school. Over 45% of CCHS students receive financial aid! We encourage all of our high school-aged parishioners to ‘Aspire to be Saints.’
