HIGH SCHOOL

How can I get involved?

There are a variety of events for high school students that take place at St. Patrick of Merna.  We plan each year to attend the Catholic Diocese of Peoria Youth Rally in November, to take a group to Catholic Heart Work Camp, and we encourage anyone over the age of 16 to go on a TEC retreat (visit bntec.org for more info).

We want to create opportunities for young people to encounter Jesus and seek to follow him for the rest of their lives.  The absolute BEST way to “get involved” would be for you to commit to consistent prayer and a deep sacramental life.

Crossfit

Crossfit is a high school large group that meets year on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30pm every other week during the school year.  No, this is not a large group workout… it’s a workout for your soul!  We invite anyone in high school to come take part in the faith and fun of Crossfit.  We generally meets at St. Pats, but could meet offsite on any given week!

Sign up for the Crossfit text line to get reminders and location info.  To sign up, simply text “@soulswole” to 81010.  We hope to see you there!

Come get your soul swole!

Small Groups

Yes, come to Crossfit, but are you ready to take the next step?  We invite you to join a high school small group!  Groups will continue to form.  Email ryan@stpatrickmerna.org if you are interested in joining or even leading a high school small group.

Small groups are communities of 6-12 members that meet regularly for discussion of faith and life.  These groups are centered on Scripture and our relationship with God, and they are a perfect place to go deeper with other peeps your age.

Discipleship

Jesus gave the greatest mission to his disciples.  The last words Jesus spoke before he ascended into heaven were: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all I have commanded you, and I will be with you to the end of the age” (Mt 20:19).

First, we must become disciples ourselves – making Jesus the center of our lives and following him at all cost.  Only then can we begin to draw others to follow Him and take part in this great mission.

Are you a disciple of Jesus already?  Do you want to be?  Email ryan@stpatrickmerna.org to be included in our monthly “Upper Rooms” and to get with and be challenged by other disciples.
