How can I get involved?
There are a variety of events for junior high students that take place at St. Patrick of Merna, but we would love for there to be more! Over the summer, we hold “Summer Sports” in which anyone can come, play the sport of the week, and get to know each other. The largest thing offered right now are Religious Education Classes for 6-8th grade students with about 200 students enrolled. We would love to see something more consistent, such as a junior high youth group, but these have not formed as of yet.
If you are interested in helping to make more happen for Junior high, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We want to create opportunities for young people to encounter Jesus and seek to follow him for the rest of their lives.
Prayer and Sacramental Life
The absolute BEST way to “get involved” would be for you to commit to consistent prayer and a deep sacramental life.
Jesus longs for you to meet him, and he meets you in the Sacraments – especially at Mass and also in prayer. No matter what events or programs are offered, Jesus is calling you into deeper communion with him and this is step number one!
No matter what, commit to going to Mass every Sunday. This is THE place meet Jesus! God speaks to us through the Scripture readings and he gives us his very life in Holy Communion. It is so important that we receive Jesus each week and to allow him to change our lives. A great way to start praying is to commit to daily prayer. It doesn’t matter how long at first, but commit your time to God! Try to spend 1% of your day (15 minutes) in quiet prayer with God. We challenge you to spend this time every day.
Go to Mass every Sunday and take the 1% Challenge if you really want to get involved.
